๐ŸŽ„ Create stunning handmade decorations that add elegant black accents to your holiday tree or kitchen display
๐Ÿ–ค Craft beautiful accordion-style ornaments that are lightweight, durable, and perfect for personalized home decor

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 1 ornament 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Paper (preferably colorful or patterned)

1 tube or roll Glue or double-sided tape

1 length per ornament (612 inches) String or ribbon for hanging

Small amount, optional Decorative elements such as glitter, stickers, or small beads

Instructions

1-First Step: Measure and cut strips Cut multiple strips of paper of equal width and length. Common starting dimensions per strip are: * 1/2 inch wide by 12 inches long for a small ornament * 3/4 inch wide by 12-14 inches long for a medium ornament * 1 inch wide by 14-18 inches long for a larger ornament Cut enough strips so layered folds will produce a full look. Typical assembly uses two strips layered, but you can use three for increased volume. Use scissors or a paper trimmer for straight edges.

2-Second Step: Fold each strip accordion-style Fold each strip back and forth in an accordion pattern. Aim for consistent fold widths. A recommended fold width is 1/2 inch for small to medium ornaments. A bone folder or the back of a spoon helps make tight, even creases.

3-Third Step: Join ends to form a circle or cone Glue or tape the ends of strips together to form a circle or other desired shape. If forming a circular band, secure the last fold to the first with a dab of glue or double-sided tape. For a cone-like tree shape, overlap strip ends slightly and glue so layers fan outward when opened.

4-Fourth Step: Layer and shape the ornament If using multiple strips, glue one layered circle inside or on top of another so the folds create tiered branches. Press lightly while the glue sets. Adjust folds to shape a tree silhouette; pinch the top slightly to form a peak for hanging.

5-Fifth Step: Attach decorations Attach decorative elements if desired. Add small beads, stickers, or a dusting of glitter. Apply glue sparingly; heavy decorations can weigh down paper. For a clean finish, glue a small foil star or bead at the top pivot point.

6-Final Step: Add hanging loop and finishing touches Tie a piece of string or ribbon at the top to hang the ornament. Thread the loop through the pinch point before the final glue sets for a secure hold. Let glue dry completely before hanging to prevent deformation.
