๐ŸŽ Enjoy a fresh and flavorful homemade apple cider that brings the comforting taste of fall to your home.
๐Ÿ”ฅ This easy recipe uses a mix of sweet and tart apples for balanced flavor and warming spices for a cozy drink experience.

  • Total Time: 8 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: About 8 cups (2 quarts) 1x

Ingredients

Scale

10 medium apples, a mix of sweet varieties like Honeycrisp, Jazz, Pink Lady, Gala, Fuji, Cortland and tart types such as Granny Smith, Braeburn, Jonathan, Pacific Rose

1 orange, peeled and segmented

4 cinnamon sticks or 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground cloves or 2 teaspoons whole cloves

6 tablespoons (75g) granulated sugar, adjustable between 50g (1/4 cup) for spicier taste and 100g (1/2 cup) for sweeter

Water, enough to cover the fruit in the pot or slow cooker

Instructions

1-Place the orange segments, quartered apples with cores removed, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and sugar into a 4-quart or larger slow cooker.

2-Add enough water to cover the fruit.

3-Cover and cook on low heat for 6-7 hours or on high for 4 hours; low heat works best for deeper flavors.

4-Remove the cinnamon sticks, then mash the softened fruit with a strong spoon to release more juices.

5-Return the cinnamon sticks to the cooker, cover, and cook for an additional hour to blend the flavors.

6-Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove solids, and repeat if needed for a smoother texture.

7-Serve warm, and store leftovers in the fridge for 5-7 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
