– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 large onion, diced
– 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped or minced
– 1 pound ground beef
– 40 ounces marinara sauce (approximately 5 cups)
– 1 pound dried rigatoni pasta, cooked until just al dente
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
– ΒΌ cup fresh basil, roughly chopped for garnish
Instructions
1-Preheat oven to 350Β°F (177Β°C) to get it ready for baking.
2-Cook the 1 pound dried rigatoni pasta according to package instructions until just al dente, then drain and set it aside.
3-Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat, add 1 large diced onion, and cook until softened. Next, add 2 cloves finely chopped garlic and cook until fragrant.
4-Add 1 pound ground beef to the pan and cook, breaking it up, until thereβs no pink left.
5-Stir in 40 ounces marinara sauce with the beef and heat through, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
6-Mix the sauce and beef with the cooked rigatoni pasta, then transfer everything to a 13Γ9 inch baking dish and cover loosely with foil.
7-Bake for 20 minutes covered, remove the foil, sprinkle 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese on top, and bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese melts and turns slightly golden.
8-Garnish with ΒΌ cup roughly chopped fresh basil and serve hot.
