Ingredients
⅓ cup (≈ 65 g) granulated sugar
¼ cup (≈ 55 g) packed light brown sugar
1 ½ cups (≈ 180 g) all-purpose flour
½ tsp (≈ 2 g) baking powder
¼ tsp (≈ 1 g) salt
10 Tbsp (≈ 140 g) chilled unsalted butter, cut into cubes
½ tsp (≈ 2 ml) pure vanilla extract
⅓ cup (≈ 30 g) old-fashioned rolled oats
¼ tsp (≈ 0.5 g) ground cinnamon
3 4 medium apples (about 3 4 cups thinly sliced, ≈ 450 g) peeled
1 Tbsp (≈ 8 g) all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp (≈ 25 g) granulated sugar
1 tsp (≈ 5 g) ground cinnamon
1 tsp (≈ 5 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
⅓ cup (≈ 80 ml) good-quality caramel sauce, plus extra for serving
Instructions
1-Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lining an 8 x 8-inch baking pan with foil or parchment for easy cleanup. This step sets you up for success right from the beginning.
2-Next, in a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the cold butter cubes and vanilla, then blend until it looks like coarse crumbs. Press half of this mixture into the pan to form the base it’s like building a foundation for your treat.
3-In another bowl, mix the sliced apples with 1 Tbsp flour, 2 Tbsp sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice until evenly coated. Spread this over the crust for that juicy middle layer. Stir oats and a bit more cinnamon into the remaining crumb mixture and sprinkle it on top.
4-Bake covered for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake another 25-30 minutes until golden and tender. Let it cool before drizzling caramel sauce over the top. For a fun variation, check out our peach cobbler dump cake recipe if you want more easy baking ideas.

🍎 Slice apples thinly (about 1/8‑inch) so they soften fully during baking.
⚡ Add a pinch of sea salt to the caramel drizzle for a salty‑sweet contrast.
