– 1 1/3 cups powdered sugar
– Pinch of salt
– 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 tablespoon Dutch-process cocoa powder (for tree trunk)
– Green food coloring
– Yellow food coloring (for star decoration)
– Candy such as M&Ms or dark chocolate covered peanut gems (to mimic Christmas lights)
Instructions
1-Preheat oven to 325 ยฐF and line a 9โณx13โณ pan.
2-Whisk dry ingredients and set aside.
3-Beat eggs, sugar, and extracts until thickened.
4-Mix dry into wet ingredients gradually.
5-Heat milk with zest, add butter and oil, then incorporate into batter.
6-Bake and cool completely.
7-For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth, then add powdered sugar, salt, and vanilla. Divide and color as needed.
8-Assemble by cutting and frosting the cake into a tree shape, adding decorations last.
