πŸ’ Enjoy a vibrant and tangy homemade cranberry sauce made with fresh, simple ingredients for an irresistible holiday classic.
🍊 The bright citrus notes from orange juice add depth and a refreshing twist, enhancing the natural tartness of cranberries.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: About 2 cups

Ingredients

– β…” cup (133 g) sugar

– β…“ cup (67 g) light brown sugar, tightly packed

– β…“ cup (78 ml) water

– β…” cup (157 ml) orange juice

– 12 oz (340 g) cranberries, rinsed and picked through to remove bad or bruised ones

Instructions

1-Combine the sugars, water, and orange juice in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugars dissolve, then bring to a boil.

2-Add the cranberries and return the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally until most berries burst and the sauce thickens slightly.

3-Transfer the sauce to a bowl and let it cool at room temperature for at least 20 minutes. Afterward, cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to achieve the best texture.

Notes

🍬 Use a combination of brown and white sugar to achieve a balanced sweetness.
🍊 Orange juice brightens the flavor, adding more complexity than water alone.
❄️ Sauce thickens as it cools; don’t worry if it seems runny while hot, and it can be made ahead and frozen for up to a month.
