🌢️ Enjoy bold, spicy flavors with this creamy Cajun shrimp pasta that’s rich with garlic and spices.
🦐 This easy-to-make dish offers a comforting, protein-packed meal perfect for busy weeknights or special dinners.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

– 8 oz penne pasta

– 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined

– 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning for coating the shrimp

– 2 tablespoons oil divided used for cooking

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 2 minced garlic cloves

– 1/2 cup diced tomatoes

– 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

– 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

– 2 tablespoons parsley for garnish if desired

– Extra parmesan cheese for garnish if desired

Instructions

1-Step 1: Cook the Pasta First, cook 8 oz of penne pasta in salted water until it’s al dente, which usually takes about 10 minutes. Don’t forget to reserve some pasta water before draining it, as this helps adjust the sauce later. This step sets the base for the dish and keeps everything light and fresh.

2-Step 2: Prepare the Shrimp Next, coat 1 lb of large shrimp with 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning for that spicy kick. Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a skillet over medium heat and sautΓ© the shrimp for 1-2 minutes per side until they turn opaque and pink. Once done, remove them from the pan and keep them warm to lock in their juicy texture.

3-Step 3: Build the Sauce In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. SautΓ© the 2 minced garlic cloves until fragrant, about 1 minute, then stir in 1/2 cup of diced tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes. Pour in 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream, the rest of the Cajun seasoning, and 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese, then simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens nicely.

4-Step 4: Combine and Serve Return the cooked shrimp and pasta to the skillet, tossing everything together to coat evenly. If the sauce seems too thick, use the reserved pasta water to thin it out. Serve right away with extra parmesan and 2 tablespoons of parsley for a fresh finish. Adding tips like using fresh shrimp can make this even better for your next meal.
