Ingredients

– 1/2 cup sugar

– 1/2 cup butter

– 1 large beaten egg

– 1 cup molasses

– 2 1/2 cups flour

– 1/2 cup heavy cream (which includes 1 stick butter)

– 1 cup cream

– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

1-First, preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a 9Γ—13-inch pan to avoid any sticking. In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup butter until it’s smooth and light that step brings out the flavor! Next, beat in 1 large egg and 1 cup molasses until everything mixes well.

2-In another bowl, whisk together 2 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1/2 teaspoon cloves, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Slowly add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Pour in 1 cup very hot water to make the batter smooth it might look thin, but that’s okay!

3-Baking and Finishing Touches: Pour the batter into your prepared pan and bake for 20-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. While it bakes, prepare the vanilla cream sauce by combining 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup heavy cream (with 1 stick butter), and 1 cup cream in a saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring until the butter melts, then boil for 3-5 minutes.

4-Remove from heat and stir in 2 teaspoons vanilla extract; let it cool a bit. Serve the warm cake with sliced bananas, fresh whipped cream, and this sauce on top it’s a game-changer! The whole process takes about 55 minutes total, with 10 minutes prep and 45 minutes cooking.
