Ingredients
– 3.3 ounce bag of plain microwave popcorn (about 6-7 cups popped)
– 1/4 cup butter
– 9 ounces red cinnamon candies
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1/4 cup light corn syrup
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon extract (optional)
Instructions
1-Preheat the oven to 225Β°F (107Β°C).
2-Spread the popped popcorn in a lightly buttered roasting pan and place it in the oven to warm.
3-In a heavy pan, melt the butter most of the way.
4-Add the red cinnamon candies, sugar, corn syrup, and salt to the pan and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes.
5-Remove from heat, then carefully stir in baking soda and cinnamon extract if using.
6-Quickly pour the hot candy glaze over the warm popcorn, stirring to coat evenly.
7-Bake the coated popcorn for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
8-Remove from the oven, stir one last time, and let cool.
9-Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
